The banana is the most important crop grown in the Canary Islands, and for decades the banana industry was responsible for the economic growth of the islands.
Today, the banana is a focal point for visiting tourists who are surprised by the sheer quantity of banana trees growing by the sides of the road and which can be seen from any lookout point on the island.
In Los Realejos there are also many areas dedicated to banana plantations, which give a uniform colour to the landscape and the views we enjoy.
Locally grown bananas can be found easily in any of the local supermarkets.
