Jacaranda

This tree belongs to the family of the Begnonoaceae and originates from South America. It is widely cultivated as an ornamental tree due to its gorgeous and long-lived violet flowers.

Many specimens reach 2 to 30 metres in height. Its canopy is generally irregularly ovoid in
shape. It has an extensive branching pattern. The canopy reaches diameters around 10 to 12 metres and produces medium-dense shade.

The leaves are large, about 30 to 50 centimetres long. The top of the leaves is dark green
while the bottom side is pale. Foliation season is towards the beginning of summer.
Its wood is much sought for in cabinetmaking and carpentry, especially to make laminates.
